In “The Cave”, you’re a freshly graduated student who is assigned a small routine mission. When you start a new game, you can choose which school you graduated. This is similar to class selection in most RPGs and is supposed to provide a very distinct gameplay for each different class.

What’s interesting here is the amount of technology I packed in this simple class selection screen. Check this screen for details :thecave-school-tech1

Probably a lot of work for a class selection screen, but that’s how I like games to be made. That’s why I made a voxel renderer for the sole Arena death screen…. I hope I’ll be able to keep this level of awesomeness everywhere in the game.

I also try to push the bar on procedural text in this prototype. No more fixed intro screen, item description texts. You can see the text generator at work in the school description. I hope to be able to use it as often as possible.
